1099 filing for corporations
Corporations still issue 1099-NEC to non-corporate vendors. We collect the W-9s through the portal, validate the amounts, file electronically and keep the acknowledgement — the part that is hardest to reconstruct in February.
Who this is for
- Corporations paying US contractors, attorneys or rents
- Companies that need to file ten or more information returns electronically
- Owners who filed late last year and want a repeatable process
What the engagement includes
- Payee list collection with encrypted TIN storage
- W-9 request and tracking through the portal
- 1099-NEC preparation and electronic filing through an authorised route
- Acknowledgement stored and copies delivered to recipients
- A January checklist with the dates that apply that year
What we will ask for
- Vendor payment detail by payee
- Existing W-9s
- State withholding registrations where applicable
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to file 1099s for payments to corporations?
Generally not for payments for services to a corporation, but there are exceptions (for example attorney fees). We review the payee list rather than applying a blanket rule.
What if a vendor will not provide a W-9?
We document the request history and withholding position, and flag the payee for your decision. We do not fabricate a TIN.
