Form 1120
C corporation tax return preparation
A C corporation files Form 1120 every year, and most states add a corporate income, franchise or annual report filing. We prepare the federal return and every state filing quoted in your engagement, with an independent reviewer before anything reaches you for signature.
Who this is for
- Corporations taxed as C corporations, including LLCs that elected corporate treatment and were verified
- Companies with activity in one state or several states
- Owners who want a written scope instead of an hourly surprise
What the engagement includes
- Information request list built for your entity type and states
- Federal Form 1120 preparation from your trial balance and supporting documents
- State corporate income, franchise and annual report filings listed in the proposal
- Independent reviewer pass before the draft is released to you
- Transmission with the acknowledgement stored for each jurisdiction
- Delivery of filed copies, payment instructions and the next corporate deadlines
What we will ask for
- Profit and loss, balance sheet and trial balance for the fiscal year
- Prior-year federal and state returns
- Payroll reports (941/940 or state equivalents) and contractor payments
- Fixed asset additions and disposals
- State registration, annual report and franchise tax notices
Frequently asked questions
Do you represent the company before the IRS?
No. We prepare and file. If a notice requires a response that defends a position, an audit, an appeal or a collection matter, we explain the situation, ask for your written consent and refer you to an allied attorney.
Can you file my state return too?
Yes, for the states listed in your proposal. Multi-state activity is priced after review because each state has different nexus and report rules.
Is bookkeeping included?
Not by default. If your books are not closed we will quote a cleanup or ask you to provide a closed trial balance.
